Arthritis & the Benefits of Massage

Massage is a safe and effective way of reducing pain and improving range of movement in patients with arthritis. Although Massage cannot cure or prevent arthritis, it will definately ease the symptoms. Massage, at the tolerance level of the client, will ease pain and muscle stiffness and reduce swelling at the joints. The benefits of Massage also include increased circulation, improved mobility and a sense of overall relaxation and wellbeing.

Tests have proved that a 1-hour massage twice a week for 4 weeks, followed by a 1-hour massage once a week for 4 weeks results in a significant improvement in flexibility, with a better range of movement and less pain. Thereafter, the benefits of massage continue and the extent of the symptoms are greatly reduced.
